Anxiety - biggest problem of today
According to WHO, in 2019, 301 million people, or 4% of the world’s population, were suffering from Anxiety disorders, the most common mental disorders.
More women than men suffer from Anxiety disorders. Most people experience anxiety sometimes in their lives, but not all have lasting problems that affect their daily life.
What are the symptoms?

There are many different types of anxiety disorders, but what they often have in common are an excessive & uncontrollable fear or worry, often accompanied by physical sensations.
Some of the symptoms of Anxiety can be:
- Feeling tense, angry or restless
- Headaches
- Stomach aches & nausea
- Muscle tension
- Sweating
- Shaking
- Trouble sleeping
- Having a hard time making decisions or concentrating
- Feeling an impending danger, panic, doom

Why do you get anxiety?
This can vary from person to person, but some causes might be because you have suffered abuse, experienced traumatic events, loss, adversity, have other medical conditions & find it overwhelming.

- AgoraPhobia-Fear of eg tight & claustrophobic places
- GAD General Anxiety Disorder-Persistent & excessive anxiety about even everyday tasks.
- Anxiety Disorder due to Medical Conditions-Anxiety or panic directly linked to a medical condition.
- Panic Disorder (Panic Attacks)-A rapidly increasing feeling of panic, fear, terror, that’s recurring.
- Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)-Anxiety that occurs when in or thinking about being in a social situation, where you’re embarrassed or very self-conscious. To the point that you avoid them.
- Selective mutism-When kids can’t speak in certain, but not all, situations.
- Separation Anxiety Disorder-An excessive fear of being separated from your parents as a kid.
- Specific Phobias-When the person gets anxiety when in a specific situation, eg snakes.
- Substance-Induced Anxiety Disorder-Induced by use, overuse or withdrawal of some medicines & drugs.
- Other Specified Anxiety Disorder & Unspecified Anxiety Disorder-That cause problems, but can’t be classified as above.
